With the two survivors loaded into the truck our band gang-busters pushed the truck eastbound on County Road 512 and stopped just before a darkened plaza. The sheriff, now accompanied by two EMT's, thanked them for their efforts. They advised him of the grim situation down the road and hustled to find a brief break from the rain under the awning of a gas station.
To their amazement the woman inside bathed in the glow of candlelight. They had been experimenting with fire for most of the night without any luck. She was apprehensive at first about interacting with them however once she had heard of their heroic deeds she allowed them entrance and offered up her wares.
They stocked up on water and granola and found that matches struck on the inside were able to carry a small amount of flame before burning out quickly. Dave cleaned himself in rainwater and the group continued on to the rescue station.

Dj’s thoughts ran wild with all types of end world scenarios. including chemical attack which dj’s pal of 14 years was bathing in. Previously the camping mates where all wearing rain gear.dj ran over to Dave and tried to push him from the down spout pouring flashdance style on his chest but Dave stood strong.
ReplyDeleteFresh clothes where brought and Dave re garbed. The groups priorities where then directed to getting the injured back to the emt station where a the injured could be cared for. The woman in the pants suit was awake and able to walk .The other was still on her lounge chair with wheels, so we took to the streets to walk the rest of the distance to the EMT station.
It was an official building with glass block windows around edges the tall fire truck garage door stood before us. A massive group of locals surrounded the station. We yelled that we have wounded and need to get by. There was no response till Justin screamed that the wounded had Ebola and crowd parted quickly. The group entered and began questioning the emts on situation dj was still asking if haz mat teams were ready for this kind of situation and the emts hand no clue. The night was taxing on Andy, Dave and dj.they went to fireman’s bunk area and dropped gear and fell asleep.justin grabbed an o2 tank and began experimenting with matches and oxygen but nothing worth noting appeared to happen.
Joe the engine mechanic and volunteer appeared and asked if he could help Justin in his possible fix to mobility and the two began rigging up the tank to the carb of an ambulance. But once the ignition was turned the electrical system was dead as well.justin though of another option of getting solar panels from street signs but none where in area.
Troy found Justin ns inventing time the best opportunity to upgrade into fresh clothes and fire equipment donning blue fire pants ,tank top ,and fire jacket brandishing a Pulaski fire axe over his shoulder.
The duo joined the campers in the sleeping area where they bed down.
There was plenty of granola to go around.
DeleteI was surprised that no-one arose to the ruckus as the Sheriff and EMT's returned withe the wounded gang-bangers. It was a tough call to wake you all up, my sweet sleeping angels. Good thing I did though, that Sheriff wanted to chew some ass.
ReplyDeleteWe told him that stuff went sideways back at the patrol car, I guess he wasn't listening.

ReplyDeleteThe sheriff stood there and looked at us and told us that we fucked up. But hey we had self-defense on our side. He said he would go out and talk to the locals and smooth things over for us so he immediately left the room and closed the door behind him. Well the boys decided that it was time for us to pack our stuff up because we all figured that they would lynch us inside this fire station. I grabbed a fireman's jacket and opened up the door and peeked around the corner just in time to see a ruckus that was beginning and I locked eyes with Mexican holding a machete, he saw me and he screamed out something in Spanish and he started to charge me. I raised the glock and screamed for him to stop but continued his bull charge .he swung his machete and it contacted my jacket but didn't hurt me any. We both fell to the ground during the grapple the rest of us managed to go out the fire exit behind me .Justin was last out the door he swung his hatchet true and clobbered one of the Mexicans .his body fell upon the one laying on me. The stink of drunken Mexican made me sick. Troy and Andy grabbed me by my fire jacket and pulled me to safety, Justin jumped back as well into the cold 4:30 AM air. I looked up and leveled the pistol and cycled all fifteen rounds trying to get them to fire at the crowd evil vatos the round never went off flinging off into the night. The Mexicans started to pour from the door into a waiting hatchet festival of Troy’s Pulaski fire axe, Justin's knife, Andy’s cross bow bolt, and Dave's buck knife and Estwing hatchet coming down upon the pile of Mexicans the bodies piled at the men’s feet. The other three Mexicans saw there slain pals and turn tail and ran back the other way. We slammed the door shut. We looked at each other covered in blood. The last Mexican on the top of the pile began to rise and dispatched him with a machete between the eyes.
ReplyDeleteAnd that was the second time I got crabs.
ReplyDeleteWhere do we go from here? We definitely can't go around to the front, angry mobs aren't my specialty. I don't know if there is anything we need from inside. We need to get to that family reunion or find bikes. ET our way out of here.
ReplyDeleteWe should have just gone across the river like I said!
ReplyDeletei didn't write that.
